Landrush registration for .eu IDNs

26 November 2009

Fionn O'Raghallaigh, London

Applicants for .eu domain names will be able to apply for second-level domains in non-Latin characters from next month

Eurid, the operator of the .eu country-code top-level domain (ccTLD), said it understands that the European Commission will also apply to Icann to offer .eu in Cyrillic and Russian characters within the next 18 months.

Registration for the domains is on a first-come first-serve, or landrush, basis with the process opening on December 10.
