Gurry highlights “paralysed” IP policy

Attempts to keep IP policy in line with changing technology have been “paralysed” by differences between developing and developed countries, said Francis Gurry on Monday
The WIPO director general was addressing the Interamerican Association of Intellectual Property (ASIPI) at the organisation’s 17th Congress, which is being held this week in Lima, Peru.
Protecting IP in the digital age is a key area of concern for Gurry, who said that “piracy is a structural problem related to the transition of the model to digital forms and the internet, which must be solved by global reflection and cooperation”.
