Chinese authors condemn Google book deal

A Chinese writers’ society has accused Google of infringing the copyright of Chinese authors by scanning and uploading their works as part of its Google Books project.

The China Written Works Copyright Society advised Chinese authors to search Google Books for their own works and be prepared to take further legal action.

It has estimated that 18,000 works by 570 Chinese...
