Kappos scraps rules package

USPTO director David Kappos will rescind the hotly debated claims and continuations rules package imposed by his predecessor, Jon Dudas

The Office has also teamed up with GlaxoSmithKline to dismiss the pending en banc re-hearing at the Federal Circuit and vacate the district courts April 2008 decision.
However, Triantafyllos Tafas attorney, Steven Moore of Kelley Drye & Warren, told Managing IP that they were not included in the discussions between GSK and the PTO, and, while happy about the rules being rescinded, are wary of the plan to vacate.
We took the case to vindicate a small entity and to protect small inventors and entrepreneurships, said Moore. Wed like to keep the precedent on the books....
