The operator of the .hk registry will offer existing registrants a free extra domain using a Chinese suffix, if and when ICANN introduces multi-alphabet country-code domains
Applicants can already apply for domain names in either Roman or Chinese characters in the .hk space, as they can in other country-code top-level domains (ccTLDs) in Chinese-speaking territories, such as .cn and .tw.
However, under existing rules, the final part of the domain – .hk – must be in Roman characters.
