Software licensees may still face fines

The UK government could allow judges to fine anyone who acquires a licence to use software only after their infringement has been discovered, under proposals published last week

In its response to a public consultation on damages, launched two years ago, the Ministry of Justice said that it is possible to acquire licences for software applications after an infringement has been discovered without any penalty being imposed.
