New Zealand’s government is seeking feedback on new proposals to deal with repeat copyright infringers by cutting off their internet access
Section 92A of the country's
Copyright (New Technologies) Amendment Act
was due to come into effect on February 28 this year, but the government was forced to
abandon the implementation of the section
after a public campaign against the change and the failure of the ISPs and copyright owners to agree a way to put it into practice.

Now the Ministry for Economic Development has
proposed
taking the burden of enforcing the Act away from ISPs and allowing the Copyright Tribunal to make the final decision on whether to disconnect or fine a repeat infringer.
