The Office will partner with the National Board of Patents and Registration of Finland to establish the PPH pilot programme between the two countries, it said yesterday.
This is the tenth PPH between the USPTO and other nations.
A PPH is a bilateral mechanism that allows IP offices to share the work generated by the first patent office in which an application is filed with the second office.
Earlier this month, the JPO began two new PPHs with the Austrian Patent Office and the IP Office of Singapore. In May, The Japan Patent Office (JPO) and Russia's Federal Service for Intellectual Property, Patents and Trade Marks (Rospatent) also launched a pilot PPH.
The USPTO-Finland pilot will begin on July 6 and continue for one year, although that period may be extended if necessary.
