Countdown to new gTLDs

ICANN’s Board will next month take the latest steps in opening up the Internet to an unlimited number of generic top-level domains (gTLDs). At its Sydney meeting from June 21 to 26, the Association has promised to publish the latest comments on the new gTLD process and propose solutions to problems identified by interested communities in a third edition of its Guidebook, to be published soon after the meeting.

Among the comments to be taken into account will be the report of the Implementation Recommendation Team (IRT), which was tasked by the ICANN Board in March this year with proposing solutions to deal with trademark problems that might arise from the launch of new gTLDs.
