Managing Intellectual Property

What qualities make a good in-house trade mark manager? From a long list of suggestions, we have identified six: cultural sensitivity, legal knowledge, curiosity, commercial understanding, decisiveness and creativity. These attributes are explored in more detail in this month's cover story, and we also profile 10 experienced in-house counsel who embody them.

The 10 were chosen based on nominations made by practitioners on managingip.com. They represent a broad range of industries – spanning areas such as financial services, pharmaceuticals, food/beverages, sportswear and e-commerce – and come from eight different countries. More importantly, the trade mark practice challenges that they face mirror those that confront our readers around the world.
