The survey lists the top firms in each jurisdiction in tiers, and is based on five months of research by a team in London, New York and Hong Kong.
In most jurisdictions, there are separate tables for prosecution and contentious work.
The survey results are available exclusively to Managing IP subscribers and are divided into geographical regions.
The Americas section includes the results for the US, Canada, the Caribbean and 10 Latin American countries. For the US, there are both national and regional tables, as well as listings devoted to biotech/life science and International Trade Commission work.
The Europe results cover 29 jurisdictions from Austria to the UK. Firms in Scotland are ranked for the first time this year.
In Asia, the rankings cover 16 countries, with separate listings for foreign firms in Japan and China.
The Africa and Middle East rankings include several new jurisdictions this year, such as Kenya and Morocco.
More information about how the survey is put together, and how to interpret the rankings, is available in the methodology in the survey introduction (free access; no subscription required). The introduction also outlines nine trends shaping patent work, as identified by leading patent practitioners.
The survey results for trade mark and copyright work will appear in the March and April issues of Managing IP.
