New EPO Council head appointed

Benoît Battistelli, director general of France’s Institut National de la Propriété Industrielle (INPI), has been appointed as the next chair of the EPO’s Administrative Council.

The Council comprises representatives of all 34 EPO member states. It is responsible for policy matters and supervises the Office’s activities.

Battistelli’s term of office runs from March 5 2009 to March 2012 and he succeeds Roland Grossenbacher, who has chaired the Council since 2000. Battistelli has been deputy chair since 2006.
