Court of Appeal confirms software can be patented (subscriber version)

The Court of Appeal in London today confirmed that software can be patented if it provides a technical contribution to the state of the art
The decision is a victory for mobile phone and software licensing company Symbian, as the Court dismissed an appeal filed by the UK IP Office against a High Court ruling in favour of the company earlier this year.
