A new start for WIPO and EU member states demonstrate the value of compromise. By James Nurton
Congratulations to Francis Gurry on his appointment as WIPO director general. In his interview with Managing IP this month, Gurry promises to reengage the Organisation, and outlines the significant changes he will make which will be fleshed out in a publication later this month. IP owners will particularly welcome his promise to focus on the agency's technical function, as well as his commitment to dealing with the patent crisis and taking action on anti-counterfeiting.
