Patent owners whether companies, individuals, public sector organisations or universities can submit up to two published patents for consideration for the award.
The patents must have been published by December 31 2008 and the closing date for submissions is January 31 2009.
A panel of judges appointed by the editor will decide the winners, based on both the importance of the technology and the skill with which the patent is drafted.
The award will be presented to the winning inventor and patent attorney at one of Managing IPs annual awards ceremonies, which will be held in Washington DC and London in March next year.
The winning invention will also be profiled in the magazine.
More details are available at the Green IP Award homepage.
Managing IPs September issue is a special edition devoted to green issues, including the growth of clean tech patents, environmental branding and the role of prizes as incentives for innovation.
