Bird & Bird hires partner from Motorola

Managing Intellectual Property

International law firm Bird & Bird has recruited James Luo from Motorola to work in the firm's Beijing office as head of its Asian IP enforcement practice.

At Motorola, Luo was senior IP counsel for north Asia and was in charge of IP enforcement and litigation in China, Taiwan, South Korea and Vietnam. He will join Bird & Bird as a partner and has experience in contentious and non-contentious trade mark, design and copyright work.

Luo is vice-chair of the Quality Brand Protection Committee, a coalition of more than 180 brand owners that works with the Chinese government to try and improve IP awareness and protection in the country.

In November last year Luo took part in a Managing IP roundtable in Beijing on how businesses can develop their China enforcement strategy.
