Duffy named as keynote speaker for e-symposium

Managing Intellectual Property

Professor John Duffy of the George Washington University Law School will be the keynote speaker at Managing IP’s first e-symposium, to be held on September 3

Duffy, who aced for KSR in last year’s landmark Supreme Court case and also argued for one of the amici in the pending Bilski case at the Federal Circuit, will speak on global legal innovation and the future of patent rights.

He was listed as one of the 50 most influential people in IP in Managing IP’s July/August 2008 issue and has also authored a controversial paper alleging that most of the judges on the USPTO’s Board of Patent Appeals and Interferences many have been appointed illegally.

The free e-symposium will also feature four panel discussions on: patent reform; international litigation strategies; new trends in monetizing IP rights; and the rise of the patent troll.

Panellists in the discussions will include Wulf Höflich of Airbus Group, Mark Walker of IBM and James Malackowski of Ocean Tomo.

To find out more information about participating, and to register, visit the e-symposium homepage.

The symposium starts with Duffy’s keynote presentation at 11.00am EDT (8.00 am PDT/4.oo pm BST) on September 3. It will last for four and one-half hours in total.

The e-symposium is sponsored by Oblon Spivak, Fish & Richardson, Finnegan and LexisNexis.
