New rules for Australian IP attorneys

Kim Carr, minister for Innovation, Industry, Science and Research has announced changes to the way patent and trade mark attorneys operate when advising Australia innovators.

The new regulations, due to come into effect on July 1, change the pre-registration requirements for patent attorneys to focus on a more skills-based approach.

They also require patent and trade mark attorneys to undergo compulsory training each year.
