AstraZeneca loses appeal on Prilosec patents

A Federal Court has ruled that US pharmaceutical company Mylan’s generic version of Prilosec does not infringe AstraZeneca’s patents

On Wednesday June 10 the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit upheld the May 2007 District Court ruling that Mylan's 10mg and 20mg Omeprazole delayed-release capsules do not violate AstraZeneca’s patents for Prilosec.

Prilosec is used to treat heartburn, acid indigestion and intestinal ulcers. Mylan launched a generic version of the drug called Omeprazole on August 4 2003.
