The new body that will advise the UK government on IP policy was formally set up last week on June 2.
The Strategic Advisory Board for Intellectual Property (SABIP) consists of six members, as reported by Managing IP last month: chair Joly Dixon, Lynne Brindley, Cathy Garner, John Pickering, Jonathan Spencer and Iain Wilcock.
Speaking at a reception to mark the launch on June 5, Dixon said SABIP will offer independent advice to inform policy decisions: We live in a knowledge-based economy in which economic prosperity and social wellbeing increasingly depend on our wise stewardship of intellectual property. Globalization, technological change, and changing industrial structures are challenging many of the past relationships between intellectual property rights and innovation.
