Managing Intellectual Property

The Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines is to update its digital database for patents and trade marks.

Adran Cristobal, director general of IP Philippines, said that 2 million pages of patents and trade mark information will be made available.

The project will digitize all innovation patents, utility models and design patents from 1948 to November 2007 and registered trade marks from 1931 to 2007.

The documents will be uploaded to the Philippine Patent Online Search System (PhilPAT) and trade mark search .

At present, PhilPAT contains bibliographic data of all innovation patents, utility models and design patents from 1948 to November 2007.

WIPO will help fund the P7.28 million ($63,000) project as part of a bilateral cooperation programme.
