Norway: A new weapon in the fight against counterfeits

Back to country updates menu

Plougmann & Vingtoft, Copenhagen

The trade in counterfeits is on the increase and therefore causing problems for companies across industries. In order to stop the sale of counterfeits, companies are faced with the challenge of finding the most effective and cost-efficient measures to protect their products.

One of many challenges is to establish basic instruments for enforcement, enabling Customs to more effectively distinguish counterfeit from original products.

In this connection, The IPR Company, which is based in Denmark, has developed a tool called European Customs Intelligence System (ECIS), which is designed to easily and efficiently provide European Customs authorities with the valuable information necessary to identify and seize copies of your company's products.

By providing Customs with an overview of the original products, the known copies, their special characteristics, production facilities and packaging, ECIS can more successfully stop the counterfeits from entering Europe.

We know of a big international company that has already implemented ECIS as an effective anti-counterfeiting platform for Customs, agents, detectives, IP consultants and the company's internal IP team and management. From my point of view, ECIS is an extremely valuable tool for industries faced with counterfeits.
