Lovells has launched a domestic trade mark agency in China.
The agency, which opened its doors on December 1, will be able to file trade mark applications, oppositions, cancellations and appeals directly with the Chinese authorities and deal directly with enforcement agencies.
Zheng Feng, a senior associate at the firm, will be general manager and legal representative of the agency and Deanna Wong, a consultant, will manage prosecution work.
It will operate under the name Lovells (Shanghai) Trademark Agency Co and is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Hong Kong office.
UK-based full service firm Bird & Bird won a similar licence to file trade marks in May this year.
