Ian Heath yesterday resigned from his position as director-general of IP Australia.
He took on the top job in 1999. Heath has overseen the modernization of IP Australias IT systems and pushed hard for the organization to provide patent examination services for other offices, including the USPTO.
He will remain in position until a replacement is found. An advert will be placed in the Australian national press soon.
An interview that Managing IP conducted with Heath in October 2006 is available here.
