Patent surge threatens IP offices

Patent applications originating from China and South Korea have risen dramatically for the second year running and the growth is putting further strain on patent offices, according to WIPO's 2007 World Patent Report.

The report, which was published on August 10, provides figures from 2005, the most recent year for which full statistics are available.
