A new dawn for IP owners in China
Membership of the global trade body is another boost to IP protection in China. But how soon the boost will come is uncertain. Things will get better but not immediately. Ralph Cunningham reports
Different intellectual property owners each have their own
horror stories about China. The percentage rate of music piracy in
the country is said to be in the high nineties. Some markets for
consumer products are thought to be made up entirely of counterfeit
items. And pirated movies arrive on the streets almost as soon as
they are released legitimately in other parts of the world.
