World IP Survey: Part 3Leading patent firms revealed
In part three of the World IP Survey, MIP reveals the leading patent firms from Argentina to
Thailand, and specialists from the leading firms discuss current trends
Conditions have been tough in many of the countries featured on
the following pages over the past year. Economic difficulties have
afflicted people from Argentina to Vietnam, and IP practitioners
have not escaped. In some cases, investment has fallen, and
consequently IP filings and licensing have declined. But despite
these difficulties, much of importance has happened in the patent
field. Reforms have been passed; treaties have been signed; cases
have been heard. Thirteen countries now on the fringes of Europe
are becoming increasingly integrated into the core. In Africa and
Asia, legislation and litigation are tackling issues to do with
pharmaceutical patent protection and public health. In Latin
America, patent offices are planning for a very different future,
caused by declining applications and stretched resources.
