Victoria Espinel was confirmed Friday by the US Senate as the first US Intellectual Property Enforcement Coordinator in the Office of Management and Budget

Espinel is former assistant trade representative for intellectual property at the office of the US Trade Representative and law professor at George Mason School of Law in Virginia. She was nominated for the post by President Barack Obama in September.

All of Obama’s IP appointments were delayed due to problems finding a candidate for Secretary of Commerce.
